Last harvest for the season, September 19th to the 23rd.
Our first harvest of next year won’t be until mid to late May.
We are encouraging people to plan for the winter and spring and stock their freezers now. In their heat-sealed bags, the bird stays super fresh for 6 months in the freezer, a whole year is totally fine. You could also part them up or grind some for varietal use over the winter as well.
See our harvest page for all the details.
Don’t forget to reserve your bird ahead of time if you want to be certain you get the birds you want! http://the-smithshyre-farm.myshopify.com/

It was a great hot harvest day. Many customers returned for more and we meet new customers that were excited about our products. This means a lot to us, thank you everyone.
We processed 64 birds, we sold 60. We are calling that a great success. But we will need your help for the next harvest. Our next harvest will be closer to 100 birds so we will need everyone who has enjoyed our birds to tell their friends and family. Thank you for valuing clean food, that is humane, and environmentally sensitive. If you know others like you, please show them our blog.

Well the Smithshyre is very excited today! Our turkey eggs hatched, we have 30 cute and clumsy Narragansett heritage turkeys. We will grow these birds for your Thanksgiving feast. We are currently taking deposits on these birds, supply is limited, 2 have already been reserved.
Our meat birds (broilers) went out to pasture for the first time, yesterday. Our floor-less pen seems to be working well, for now. These chickens have been in a brooder for the last 3 and a half weeks. They have about 5 weeks left to fill out. The harvest is planned for May 3rd & 4th, this is perfect timing. Our permit this year does require our costumers to come to the farm on the weekend of harvest. So plan on coming to our farm the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of May; to pick up your fresh, whole, pasture raised, non-certified Organic chickens. Don’t worry you will not be asked to participate in the harvest, except to bring a cooler to keep your whole chicken fresh. You may want more then one or two because out next harvest wont be until July 12th.
